RadarTimikaOnline – Latest in Singapore, What Happened to Colin Chua Yi Jin. A Singaporean man studying at a British university was imprisoned for a year on Wednesday (June 22) and fined 2,500 S.2500 for illegally taking videos of women, some of whom he recorded during a rally at his home.
Last July, Colin Chua Yi Jin (24) confessed to seven allegations of insulting female dignity and eight possession of obscene films. Another eight cases of contempt of court were considered for sentencing.
In contrast to the usual cases involving sexual crimes, Chua mentioned 11 of his victims who came to lobby for an order to remove his identity.
Supreme Court Justice Sundresh Menon ordered the naming of Chu in September last year. Gag orders are often enforced to protect the identity of victims of sexual crimes.
If the suspect is related to the victims, the grafting order may be extended to his identity, even if it is intended only to protect the victims.
The names of Chua’s victims, as well as their relationship to him and to the school they attended, remain under a changed order of jokes and cannot be made public.
