How did Jeffrey Dahmer die?

Dahmer died at Columbia Correctional Institution after being attacked by a fellow inmate named Christopher Scarver.

On the morning of Nov. 28, 1994, Dahmer, Scarver and a third inmate, Jesse Anderson, were led out of their cells to do their assigned work, which included cleaning the restrooms.

The three were unattended in the shower area for about 20 minutes, and at about 8:10 a.m., Dahmer was found on the bathroom floor with severe head injuries.

It turned out that Scarver had bludgeoned him with a newspaper clipping about Dahmer’s crime with a pole he had taken from the prison gym. Scarver had hidden the rod in his pants leg.

Dahmer survived the initial beating but suffered massive fractures to his skull and face and died an hour after being taken to the hospital. Scarver also attacked Anderson, who died of the same injuries two days later.

Scarver put the bar back in the training room and returned to his cell unnoticed by the guards.

In his will, Dahmer had directed that no religious ceremony be held for his death; instead, he wished to be cremated. In September 1995, Dahmer’s body was cremated and his ashes distributed to his parents.
